RIM BlackBerry 6 Shown Off in Video Preview [Video]

Sure enough, Research In Motion has managed to make their brand new mobile Operating System, BlackBerry 6, look remarkably BlackBerry. But, that’s not all that bad. In fact, as the video will show, it looks like RIM has managed to create a perfect combination of what people want, and what the folks at Waterloo think their customers need. From what we can see in the preview, they managed to do it quite well.

The new OS is designed specifically for touchscreen devices, but thankfully RIM has promised that another version will be made available for devices with hardware keyboards. (That’s a good idea, considering the main catalogue of BlackBerry devices have this, and not the touchscreen.) And, as we’ve come to expect from the mainstream mobile systems hitting the market as of recent, BlackBerry 6 puts a heavy focus on social networking, like Twitter. There’s also some good media playback that we can see.

BlackBerry 6 is set to hit devices later this year, perhaps as early as August, and while it’s more than likely that not every single BlackBerry device out there will get the upgrade, we’re thinking that many will. Then again, you could just pick up a heavy clamshell phone, which is already showing the new OS off. But, then again, you might just want to wait.
